Triton is proud to share this arrangement Wes did for us a couple of years ago, one of Piazzolas’s Cinco Piezas: IV. Tristón, originally composed for guitar. We are so grateful to Andrew Sorg, master of audio and video for this rendition, recorded by each of us in our respective corners of the world, where we’ve been hunkered down. Tristón ("with intimate sadness") is a funeral march which Piazzolla composed after being so intensely affected after learning about the consequences of the civil war in Nigeria at the end of the 1970s.

The life and music of Astor Piazzola has been a source of fascination and inspiration to the five of us, dating back to our earliest days as a group. The conviction with which he lived his life and expressed his music continues to help Triton find new ways to innovate, adapt, and most importantly, sing our song.

All our love goes out to all of you. This year without live performance has been incredibly difficult for all of us, in all kinds of ways. We’re coming round the bend, and we’ll be back soon — can you feel it too? Until then, take care. Love, Triton: Andrew, Steve, Shelagh, Wes and Phil.

Voices In Da Fan by Andrew Sorg for The Atlantic Brass Quintet. 🖥 @hushharding
I composed this four movement work because after 20 years of sleeping with the white noise of the fan, I started hearing sounds in the white noise. Paranormal experts believe the dead communicate with us through white noise. I wrote what I was hearing down as music and it’s my comedic insomnia quintet.
